When it comes to PC games, Fortnite, Dota 2, and League of Legends are often mentioned. These projects remain leaders, but the market landscape is changing.
The PC segment continues to grow and is projected to surpass consoles in revenue by 2028. But growth is no longer solely driven by the largest games.
According to a Newzoo report, in Western markets, projects outside the top 20 accounted for 56% of PC revenue in 2025, compared to 48% in 2022. The share of playtime outside the top increased from 33% to 42%. At the same time, the time spent in such games increased by 44% in 2022–2025, while the entire PC segment grew by 14%.
The most popular projects remain ahead, but the "middle layer" has begun to generate significantly more money.
Newzoo notes the growth of RPGs and adventure games. Among them are Path of Exile 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Older releases also maintain strong positions: Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
PC is increasingly becoming a market where money is generated not only by the biggest hits, but by a wide pool of games.
