Techland loses Dying Light franchise director
Tymon Smektała worked at the company for over 13 years.
Significant personnel changes have occurred at Techland: one of the key leaders of the Dying Light franchise, development veteran Tymon Smektała, has left the company. He worked at the company for over 13 years.
Smektała joined Techland in May 2013 as a game designer, and later became a producer for the first Dying Light. Over time, he rose to the position of franchise director, which he held for almost four years. The last project under his leadership was the development and release of Dying Light: The Beast.
The developer announced his departure on social media. According to him, working on the series was an "incredible journey" that he is proud of. He thanked the Techland team for their collaboration, noting their passion and desire to make Dying Light "the perfect zombie action game".
Smektała specifically addressed the player community, emphasizing that fan support largely determined the franchise's development. He expressed confidence that the series is "in good hands" and will continue to grow, and he himself will follow its future with interest as a player.
The developer's future plans have not yet been announced.
