007 First Light: Gameplay, Mechanics, and Campaign Length Revealed
007 First Light is set to be released at the end of the month. The developers are increasingly sharing details and showcasing gameplay, clearly aiming to prove that they are fully utilizing their experience from working on Hitman.
During a Q&A session, the studio showed new game footage. It is already clear that 007 First Light will be more open and free than expected.
The campaign is estimated to be around 20 hours long, but each mission can be completed in different ways – in the style of Hitman. Online connection is not required, and there will be no multiplayer or co-op. The developers are focusing on a single-player experience.
The game will feature a bluffing system, allowing players to get out of situations after being detected. This requires special points, and some enemies, Watchers, will be more resistant to deception. The melee combat system will become deeper: dodges, parries, and counter-attacks will play a key role.
The gadget system is significantly expanded. They will become part of the progression: equipment can be chosen before missions. Classic Bond devices and vehicles, including ground and water vehicles, will return.
Combat will become more dynamic: gadgets can be used directly in battle, enemies' weapons can be seized, and the environment can be utilized. There will be spectacular finishers and a time-slowing ability for precise shots.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, there will be quality and performance modes, and on PC – support for path tracing and DLSS 4.5. Full DualSense support is also announced.
The game will feature an MI6 headquarters that can be explored for Easter eggs. IO Interactive is creating a full-fledged James Bond spy adventure, not just an action game.
