Helldivers 2 is implementing a new anti-cheat, and some gamers are once again unhappy - the game is receiving "mostly negative" reviews
Players have long complained about the anti-cheat, but the potential new solution also has its nuances.
The creators of Helldivers 2 use the NProtect GameGuard system to protect the PC version of the co-op shooter. This anti-cheat operates at the OS kernel level, yet players using third-party software can still be found in matches.
The anti-cheat not only showed that Helldivers 2 can still be hacked but also created problems for honest players using PCs with the Linux operating system. They have long asked Arrowhead Game Studios to replace this anti-cheat, and recently a record appeared in the SteamDB database about work on a new version of the game.
The developers are testing Easy Anti-Cheat – a solution that some players also dislike:
Great, going from 25-year-old garbage to newer garbage from Epic Games. Just great. Anything but adding proper upscalers and optimizing CPU usage [improving optimization].
Recent Helldivers 2 reviews on Steam are "mostly negative." The GameGuard anti-cheat is not the only problem: players are unhappy with the current state of the shooter. They are calling on Arrowhead Game Studios to fix bugs, crashes, and better adjust the balance.
