An update to the official Star Wars encyclopedia has sparked theories about the Star Wars Jedi hero appearing in movies or TV series.

Cal Kestis, the main character of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, has once again found himself at the center of fan theories about the future of Star Wars. The reason for this was two recent mentions of the character in official Lucasfilm and Disney materials.

The main catalyst for discussions was the release of the updated illustrated encyclopedia Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi: The Chronicles of Luke Skywalker, which went on sale in May 2026. This is an expanded re-release of the 2019 book, to which Insight Editions and Lucasfilm added material from the new canon of recent years.

The book is written from the perspective of Luke Skywalker, who at the end of his life compiles the history of the Jedi Order. In his notes, Luke directly mentions Cal: "Order 66 was not perfect. A handful of Jedi managed to escape execution – for example, Cal Kestis, Padawan of Master Jaro Tapal."

The very fact that Kestis is mentioned in the book is important because by the end of his life, Skywalker knew about the fate of the Star Wars Jedi hero and his mentor. This confirms that the Star Wars Jedi hero left his mark on the history of the Order and hints that he may have lived to the era of the New Republic, where the events of "The Mandalorian" and "Ahsoka" unfold.

Representatives from Disney drew additional attention to the topic. In a conversation with GameRant about the character's future, they replied: "Never say never. His lightsaber is already sold in our park, and we still have many stories about Cal ahead of us."

If the theory turns out to be true, the studios won't even have to hold a casting call: Cal Kestis's appearance, facial expressions, and movements were given by 32-year-old Cameron Monaghan, known for "Shameless" and "Gotham." In the comments, fans regularly express surprise that Lucasfilm has not yet brought the hero to live-action, even though the character was literally created in the image of a real actor.

Meanwhile, Respawn Entertainment is working on the final third part of Star Wars Jedi. If another chronological leap occurs in it, the game could bring Cal to the current era of Star Wars, where the character should be around 41 years old.
