Steve Buscemi Joins Cast of Far Cry Series from "Fargo" Showrunner
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Buscemi has joined the cast of the Far Cry series. The actor will share the screen with Lizzy Caplan and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star Rob McElhenney, who also serves as co-creator and executive producer of the show. The specific role Buscemi will play has not yet been revealed.
The actor recently appeared in the second season of Netflix's "Wednesday" as the principal of Nevermore Academy. Buscemi is also known for his starring role in the HBO drama "Boardwalk Empire," directing several episodes of "The Sopranos," and his own show "Park Bench with Steve Buscemi," for which he won an Emmy Award. Among his other famous roles are Mr. Pink in Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" and Donny in "The Big Lebowski."
Noah Hawley, creator of the series "Fargo" and "Alien: Earth," is responsible for the Far Cry adaptation. Like Ubisoft's game series, the television version will be structured as an anthology: each season will tell a new story with different characters and in a new setting. The creators have not yet specified whether the first season will be based on a specific game in the franchise or will only use the general concept of the series.
Production is handled by FX Productions and Ubisoft Film & Television. The exact premiere date for Far Cry on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ has not yet been announced.
