Bethesda's role-playing game matched The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in sales.

Bethesda Game Studios announced that global sales of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have exceeded 65 million copies. It took the project 15 years to reach this milestone, with several re-releases for different generations of game consoles, VR devices, and anniversary editions.

"Over 65 million copies sold, and players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know the wait for a sequel has been very long. The next chapter is on its way. We are where we planned to be, we like how the game looks, and we play it every day."

With this result, Skyrim ranks eighth among the best-selling video games in history and shares this position with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which reached the 65 million copies sold mark in May 2026. Thus, Geralt achieved this result four years faster – the third part of "The Witcher" was released in 2015.

Meanwhile, fans of The Elder Scrolls continue to wait for the sixth installment, whose development may be further delayed due to recent layoffs at Microsoft.
