Marvel's Wolverine gameplay mocked online - compared to a children's PlayStation 2 game

The gameplay scheme of an old "Ben 10" game adaptation closely resembles the modern game.

The release of Marvel's Wolverine is approaching, and the marketing campaign is gradually gaining momentum. New materials are being published online and discussed by gamers.

Recently, a funny comparison went viral in the community. A user under the nickname Acervo_ADG decided to compare a battle scene with a giant robot from Marvel's Wolverine (2026) with an old game from the "Ben 10" franchise.

As an example, he cited a fragment of a fight from Ben 10: Protector of Earth for PlayStation 2 — a 2007 game. In both cases, the main characters fight a huge opponent in a small arena.

A similar gameplay loop is implemented: bosses stand still and try to hit the main character, using similar techniques. The player must dodge enemy attacks, and with their own, gradually destroy the boss's body. There is almost a 20-year gap between these two games, but the combat scheme has essentially remained unchanged.

User kaiser_drago addressed the developers of Marvel's Wolverine: "My congratulations to Insomniac Games for being inspired by 'Ben 10'."

During the discussion, Ripter47 recalled a game by Tango Gameworks and stated: "Even Hi-Fi Rush was better than this [Wolverine]."

kaiser_drago defended Hi-Fi Rush and pointed out the "formulaic" nature of Marvel's Wolverine: "At least Hi-Fi Rush added something fresh – a musical rhythm synchronized with attacks, while Wolverine looks absolutely formulaic."

Marvel's Wolverine is expected to be released on September 15 for PlayStation 5 consoles.
