The role of Doctor Doom allowed the actor to observe his colleagues from the sidelines.

During an interview with Good Morning America, Robert Downey Jr. was asked to choose who he enjoyed playing more: Iron Man or Doctor Doom. Despite more than ten years as Tony Stark, after filming "Avengers: Doctor Doom," the actor preferred the new character:

"For now, I'll say Doom. I was really able to see what I had been missing all this time — everyone else."

In previous Marvel films, Downey Jr. was at the center of the team and carried a lot of responsibility. The role of Victor von Doom allowed him to step aside and observe the rest of the cast more.

Earlier, Downey Jr. also admitted that during the filming of "Avengers: Doctor Doom," he felt unusual and sometimes isolated, but "it was a joy to play him" because it was a new experience for the actor.

"Avengers: Doctor Doom" is set to premiere on December 18, 2026.
