Many users consider video cards with 8GB of video memory insufficient for 2025, which is reflected in low demand.
NVIDIA intends to reduce shipments of RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti video cards with 8 GB of memory, according to the industry forum Board Channels, which regularly publishes internal information from employees of partner companies. According to this data, the supply volumes of GPUs and video memory kits for these models will be reduced by 15% and 30%, respectively.
We are not talking about ready-made video cards, but about the so-called GPU bundles — chips with pre-installed memory that NVIDIA supplies to board manufacturers. These kits are mainly focused on the OEM segment, but even among system integrators, demand turned out to be lower than expected. The company is likely reallocating resources in favor of more popular configurations.
The decline in interest in 8-gigabyte models has long become a stable trend. European retailers regularly share data that shows a multiple superiority in sales of video cards with 16 GB over 8-gigabyte versions. The reduction in supplies is another confirmation that in 2025, 8 GB of video memory is no longer perceived as an acceptable standard — neither by the market nor by users.
