A new study confirms NVIDIA's dominance, which has taken another 2% of the market from AMD.
In the second quarter of 2025, NVIDIA strengthened its dominance in the discrete GPU market, rising to a record 94%, up 2.1% compared to the first quarter. This data comes from the analytical company Jon Peddie Research (JPR) in a recent report. AMD's share decreased by the same 2.1% and fell to 6%. Intel is virtually invisible in the discrete card segment, with less than 1%.
NVIDIA's market growth is fueled by the launch of the GeForce RTX 50 Blackwell series, which has covered all price segments, from budget solutions to top-end models. AMD, on the other hand, focused on the mid-range with the Radeon RX 9000 line on RDNA 4, and this did not help maintain its position.
The total volume of video card shipments for the quarter increased by 27% and reached 11.6 million units. For the second quarter, traditionally a "low season," this is an anomalous jump. JPR attributes it to the introduction of new tariffs in the United States: buyers rushed to upgrade their GPUs before another price increase.
On the wave of high sales, NVIDIA recorded record revenue in the gaming segment and expects additional growth in the fourth quarter, leading up to the holidays.
