The new chapter of "Demon Slayer" will reach Russian cinemas on September 18.
The "Demon Slayer" anime franchise is breaking records again. The new feature film "Infinity Castle" has grossed over 31.43 billion yen (approximately $213 million) in 52 days and attracted over 22 million viewers to Japanese cinemas. This makes it the fastest-grossing film in the history of the Japanese box office.
The film is only 200 million yen (approximately $1.3 million) short of the second line of total box office in Japanese history — it is currently slightly behind Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away." But the distance to the leader, the previous film in the franchise, "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train," is still significant: about $60 million.
"Infinity Castle" adapts the first part of the final arc of the manga — the events unfold inside the location of the same name, where the main characters face Muzan and his elite demons: Doma, Kaigaku, and Akaza.
The premiere in Russian cinemas will take place on September 18.
