The promotional campaign for the film "Predator: Planet of Death" is taking unexpected turns.
20th Century Studios, in collaboration with Garage Beer, has presented the short film Thermal Buzz — a parody of the iconic 1987 "Predator" with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Director Jordan Phoenix has turned the familiar survival story in the jungle into a comedic homage.
The plot follows a group of fighters who encounter an alien hunter and become his victims one by one. Only the hero Jason Kelce, an American football player, remains alive, unexpectedly finding salvation in a can of cold, foamy drink — it helps him hide from the enemy's thermal vision. But the ending turns out to be even more absurd: after trying the drink himself, the Predator decides to stop hunting, and he and Kelce peacefully spend time together.
Although the short film is formally a collaboration between 20th Century Studios and Garage Beer, timed to coincide with the release of Dan Trachtenberg's "Predator: Planet of Death," which will premiere on November 7, viewers are already actively discussing Thermal Buzz, contrasting it with the upcoming release.
Some note that the video is "better than 'Planet of Death'," hinting that not everyone is ready to accept Trachtenberg's new vision. According to journalists who attended recent previews in London, the director turned the classic action movie into a family road movie, far from the spirit of the original films.
