Things have been suspiciously quiet around Bend Studio, the creators of Days Gone and Syphon Filter, in recent years. Although the PlayStation-owned studio has long announced the development of a new game, no details have emerged.
Now it has become clear that the silence had reasons — and they will not please fans of the team from Oregon.
Former studio employee Robert Morrison reported that significant results were not achieved during three years of work on the new game. The project, internally named Mirror Pond, was conceived as a game-service on the Decima engine, known from Guerrilla Games. But the lack of a clear direction and stagnation in production led to the complete cancellation of the project. Morrison held the position of senior animator from July 2022 to June 2025 and mentioned the project in his LinkedIn profile.
Neither Sony nor Bend Studio have officially commented on the situation, but this information raises doubts about the future of the studio, which has not released new games for several years. After the commercial success of Days Gone, fans expected the next project to be a new beginning for the developers. But, apparently, Bend Studio is once again in the process of finding an idea that can restore their place among the key PlayStation studios.
