A fever has begun in the processor market. According to Chinese distributors, prices for Intel and AMD chips rose sharply in early November, which came as a surprise to stores and wholesalers.
The price increase mainly affected older generations of processors, while the new Intel Core Ultra 200 (Arrow Lake) and AMD Ryzen 9000 are still maintaining their previous prices.
Price increases are observed in Intel's 12th, 13th, and 14th series, as well as in the Ryzen 5000, which are popular among AM4 platform owners. AMD's price increase ranges from $5-20 per unit, causing retail prices to rise rapidly. Some large warehouses have even temporarily suspended shipments, anticipating further increases.
The reason is believed to be the increased demand from the AI and data center market, which reduces the availability of components for older processors. Production of the Ryzen 5000 is gradually ceasing, and they will become increasingly scarce.
The Ryzen 7000 series is also not on the list of "protected" models and has already begun to rise in price. In some stores, the Ryzen 5 7600X has increased by about 10%. Experts advise not to postpone the purchase of older CPUs: prices will rise, and availability will fall.
