But the head of Epic Games is amused by Steam's rules. Tim Sweeney believes that Valve can go even further and force developers to reveal what shampoo they wash their hair with.

Valve artist Ayi Sanchez tried to explain with a simple and accessible example why Steam introduced a rule requiring developers to indicate whether generative AI was used in the development of a game.

To a suggestion from one of the commentators on social network X to remove the AI label, because it is inappropriate in the current realities of the industry, Sanchez replied:

It's like saying that food products shouldn't have their ingredients listed. Consumers should have detailed information to decide whether to buy something or not, depending on its composition. Only developers who are sloppy in their work are afraid of labels.

Sanchez believes that the consumer will always choose an original game created by the efforts of real developers, and not a product of artificial intelligence and prompt authors.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney finds Steam's AI rules amusing, and sees no sense in them.
