Clive Lewis's cycle is preparing for a new theatrical incarnation.
The principal photography stage of the film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew" has wrapped in London — the first project within the new reboot of Clive Lewis's universe for Netflix. The film is being directed by Greta Gerwig, and filming itself lasted about six months, having started back in August.
The project will become the first installment of a new cinematic universe based on the works of Clive Staples Lewis, overseen by Netflix. The picture is now moving into the post-production stage. According to Variety, the visual effects are being handled by Framestore and Weta FX, while the music will be composed by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, who previously collaborated with Gerwig on "Barbie." The cinematographer was Seamus McGarvey ("The Avengers"), and editing is reportedly to be entrusted to Nick Houy — although there is still no official confirmation of this.
According to unofficial information, the film features Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig in the role of Uncle Andrew, and Carey Mulligan, while Meryl Streep is expected to voice Aslan. Netflix has not yet officially confirmed the cast.
The film's world premiere is scheduled for November 26, 2026. Before its release on Netflix, the film will receive a two-week IMAX theatrical run.
