Developers often speak proudly of their games, especially if the project has become successful and received good reviews. The situation is similar with Nioh 3, but the authors do not consider the game ideal and talk about things that should be improved in future Team Ninja projects.
Studio head and executive producer of Nioh 3, Fumihiko Yasuda, noted in an interview that the game turned out great, but it is far from ideal. According to him, the team has many ideas on what could be done better.
Nioh 3 is a great game, but it's not perfect. I think there are many things we could improve. We want to use the knowledge gained from working on Nioh 3 and elements of open locations, continue to work on this and, hopefully, implement these solutions in future projects and further improve them.
Answering a question about specific problems, the developer pointed to the narrative, especially the presentation of the story through the environment. According to him, this would help make the worlds of the studio's games more convincing.
Although we managed to achieve a high level of immersion and density of content in the game, I think we could better convey information about the world and the storyline. This also applies to artistic elements that could give the game a more distinctive look. It's about really understanding why the yokai or why this particular yokai is in this place. And why the environment looks the way it does. I think we could have done much more to convey this aspect.
Nioh 3 was released on February 6 on PC and PS5.
