The game is scheduled for release on April 17 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2.
On April 13, the embargo was lifted on the publication of reviews of Pragmata, a new science fiction action game from Capcom, in which an astronaut and an android girl fight legions of crazy robots that have captured a lunar scientific complex, trying to return home.
Judging by the opinions of the specialized press, the project received a restrained positive reception: journalists praise fresh ideas and atmosphere, but point to noticeable problems with implementation.
One of the main advantages of the game, critics call the unusual combat system, combining shooting and hacking enemies in real time. This approach requires the player to simultaneously control two characters and adds tactical depth to the battles. The interaction of the heroes — astronaut Hugh and android Diana — is noted separately: their connection is not only revealed in the plot, but also directly affects the gameplay.
Positive reviews were also given to the atmosphere. Reviewers highlight the dark and detailed design of the lunar base, as well as high-quality graphics, implemented on the proprietary Capcom engine. In general, the game is called an ambitious and rare example of new intellectual property that tries to offer something different from the usual blockbusters.
However, there was some criticism. Many reviewers found the plot of Pragmata predictable and based on familiar science fiction clichés. In addition, journalists complain about the monotony of missions and the limited variety of opponents, which is why the game loses its pace by the middle of the passage.
Separate questions are raised by the combat system: despite its originality, shooting feels less polished than in other Capcom projects, and the overload of mechanics can complicate the perception of battles.
The game currently has 87 points on OpenCritic and 85 points on Metacritic.
