Previously, Destiny 2 had a noticeable advantage in terms of developer count, but the situation has changed
Bungie is reallocating resources in favor of Marathon. As Forbes reports, the game currently has more employees working on it than any other project at the company, including Destiny 2.
According to the report, Destiny 2 previously had a noticeable advantage in terms of developer count, but the situation has changed: the Marathon team now makes up more than half of Bungie's total staff. At the same time, both games continue to share the studio's logistics and service divisions. Despite the shift in focus, Destiny 2 is still supported by hundreds of employees working on new expansions and content.
Bungie had previously stated its intention to support Marathon over the long term, planning to develop the game for "many years." Several future seasons are already in development. The second season, scheduled for release in June, is effectively complete and will bring a new shell called Guardian, the "Cradle" system for more flexible character stat customization, a nighttime version of the "Dire Marsh" map, as well as new weapons, modifications, cores, contracts, and enemies.
In addition, work is underway on Marathon's third season, which is expected to launch in August alongside a seasonal wipe. Details have not yet been disclosed, but according to preliminary information, players can expect an important story twist.
