The 1988 RPG Remaster Was Accidentally Distributed on PC - Developers Decided to Give Players a Full License
Those who managed to get Wasteland Remastered into their collection will now receive a working copy of the game.
In April, PC players noticed that Wasteland Remastered was being given away in the Microsoft Store (Xbox). There were no announcements, and some users then assumed it was a common bug.
The studio inXile Entertainment confirmed that this "giveaway" happened by mistake. Those who managed to get a copy of Wasteland Remastered could not launch the game. The developers decided to revoke the broken license and give users the full game:
A couple of weeks ago, due to an error, Wasteland Remastered became free in the Microsoft/Xbox store, but those who managed to claim the game before the glitch was fixed actually couldn't play it. So we will issue them a working version of the game. If you were lucky enough to activate it, the non-working version will soon disappear from your library, and a new copy will be waiting for you in the Offers & Credits section, which you can claim. We hope you enjoy it. See you in the Wasteland.
Wasteland Remastered is an updated version of the classic 1988 post-apocalyptic RPG:
The year is 2087. Almost a hundred years have passed since a global nuclear war turned the Earth's territory into a radioactive wasteland. You serve in the Desert Rangers organization — a squad of valiant law enforcers, the last hope of the lands that were once the southwestern states of America. You protect law-abiding citizens from hunger, disease, marauders, and mutants.
