Disney may reboot "Star Wars" and remove the sequel trilogy from the main chronology - rumor
After Kathleen Kennedy's departure, rumors of radical changes within "Star Wars" are growing louder.
Disney and Lucasfilm may be preparing a soft reboot of "Star Wars" by separating the sequel trilogy from the main chronology. This is reported by That Park Place, citing a source close to Lucasfilm.
According to the source, one of the tools for such a turnaround could be the "World Between Worlds" – a space within the Force that allows time travel. It appeared in the animated series "Star Wars Rebels" and "Ahsoka." Through it, Ahsoka's fate has already changed, and now, it is claimed, with its help, the sequel trilogy – "The Force Awakens," "The Last Jedi," and "The Rise of Skywalker" – could be removed from the official canon.
The same That Park Place article states that the fate of the "Mando-verse" will depend on the box office performance of "The Mandalorian & Grogu" film and the ratings of the second season of "Ahsoka." If both projects do not meet expectations, Dave Filoni will allegedly lose his last chance to maintain interest in this direction of the franchise. After that, Lucasfilm may prepare a small project that will conclude the storylines of "The Mandalorian" and related series, and then focus on classic characters.
The authors of the material see indirect signs of such a turnaround in marketing and theme parks, where images of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo are increasingly used. At the same time, attractions and other projects related to the sequel trilogy are allegedly showing weak commercial results and are gradually being phased out.
This information has not been officially confirmed, so it should be treated as a rumor.
