Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Authors Show New Space Marine Set in Mk.IV "Maximus" Armor

Games Workshop is slowly preparing for the pre-order opening of the Maximus Battle Group box for the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy tabletop game, which includes 20 Tactical and 10 Assault Legionaries in Mk.IV "Maximus" armor, a Contemptor Dreadnought, and a Sicaran Battle Tank.

The developers of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy tabletop game announced that new Space Marines in Mk.IV "Maximus" power armor are on their way, with Tactical Legionaries armed with "Tigrus" pattern bolters leading the charge.

Type IV armor complements other Astartes armor models featured in the Horus Heresy line: Mk.II "Crusade", Mk.III "Iron", and Mk.VI "Corvus". As with other variants, the new miniatures are compatible with upgrade sets, so they can be equipped with heavy or special weapons or assembled into a command squad.

Alongside the Tactical Legionaries, Assault Legionaries in Mk.IV "Maximus" power armor will also appear, soaring into the air on swift jump packs, which will later be used by fighters in Mk.VI "Corvus" armor. As an added bonus, players will be able to assemble this squad as Assault Veterans with a full set of power lances, turning them into deadly combatants.

These reinforcements will first be available as part of the Maximus Battle Group box. This large set includes 20 Tactical and 10 Assault Legionaries, all in Mk.IV "Maximus" armor. They are supported by a Contemptor Dreadnought with a wide selection of weaponry for any situation and a maneuverable Sicaran Battle Tank with an accelerator autocannon battery.

The Maximus Battle Group set will soon be available for pre-order. Rules for the aforementioned miniatures can be found in the Liber Astartes: Loyalist Legiones Astartes Army Book or Liber Hereticus: Traitor Legiones Astartes Army Book.

As with the Mk.III "Iron" armor sets, the tactical squad comes with a set of gauntlets. This will allow the arms from special, heavy, and melee weapon sets to be modified to match the standard look of Mk.IV "Maximus" arms.
