Devil May Cry 5 on Switch 2 Surprises Experts: Performance Higher Than on PS4
Devil May Cry 5 on Nintendo Switch 2 outperforms the PS4 version in terms of performance, delivering a stable 60 FPS.
Digital Foundry experts highly praised Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition for Nintendo Switch 2. The main advantage of the port was its performance. In docked mode at 60 Hz, the game almost constantly maintains a stable 60 FPS. This is a significant improvement compared to the PS4, where frame rate drops were common. Capcom opted for a locked 60 FPS instead of an unlocked frame rate for a more stable gameplay experience and reduced input lag.
Fast loading times were also noted. Thanks to the more modern storage of the Nintendo Switch 2, loading screens only take a few seconds.
The graphics utilize DLSS technology. In docked mode, the image is reconstructed from approximately 540p – the resulting picture is sharp and stable. "Jaggies" are less noticeable than on the PS4, although the PS5 version remains the most visually appealing.
In portable mode, the internal resolution is about 360p, scaled up to 720p via DLSS. The image becomes softer, and slight artifacts are visible during fast movement.
Following their analysis, Digital Foundry called the port a success. The game does not unlock the full potential of the Nintendo Switch 2, but it surpasses the PS4 version in performance and offers a good balance between graphics and smooth operation.
