After 23 years at Bungie, CEO Pete Parsons has announced his departure. He thanked the team and players for their years together and reminded them that since 2015, his goal has been to create a studio capable of creating iconic and long-lasting franchises.
Parsons recalled key milestones: the development of Destiny, the studio's departure from Activision, and joining the Sony Interactive Entertainment family.
Bungie has been experiencing a crisis in recent years — several unsuccessful releases and controversial business decisions have drawn criticism from the community.
The studio's leadership is now passing to Justin Truman, who has been with Bungie for 15 years. He has held various positions — engineer, designer, producer, director of development. Truman was responsible for the Destiny 2 systems, the launch of the first seasons, and supported the work on the new Marathon franchise. Parsons noted that Truman "lives and breathes Bungie" and is capable of leading the studio into the future.
In his first address as head, Truman stated that Bungie continues its mission to create worlds that inspire friendship. The studio has learned from past mistakes and is focused on two key projects: Destiny and Marathon. New details on both projects will be revealed in 2025. Parsons' departure symbolizes the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter in Bungie's history.
