Capcom has announced that Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics has exceeded one million copies sold. The result confirms the continued popularity of the series and the high interest of players in high-quality reissues of classic arcade games.
The set includes seven games released from 1993 to 2000, bringing back fan-favorite projects that defined the legacy of Marvel vs. Capcom: Marvel Super Heroes (1995), X-Men vs. Street Fighter (1996), Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (1997), Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (1998) and the famous Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (2000). The collection offers a full port of The Punisher (1993) for the first time and brings back X-Men: Children of the Atom (1994).
All games received modern features: rollback netcode for online play, ranked and casual matchmaking, training modes, and spectator mode. For many projects, this is the first official re-release since the seventh generation of consoles, which makes the collection important for veterans and newcomers alike.
The success of the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection underscores the strength of the Capcom franchise and its impact on the history of fighting games. Although future plans for the series have not yet been announced, high sales may spur new re-releases or expansion of the collection.
