Along with the fourth season of "The Witcher", the full-length film The Rats: A Witcher Tale was released on the platform.
On October 30, Netflix held a double premiere. The fourth season of "The Witcher" did not arrive alone - along with it, the service quietly released the spin-off The Rats: A Witcher Tale, dedicated to the gang "Rats of the Borderland".
The release took place without loud announcements, which confirms rumors about the difficult fate of the project. Initially, "Rats" was conceived as a mini-series in the "Witcher" universe, but in the production process they encountered difficulties, and the footage was edited into a full-length film.
According to the plot, six young criminals are trying to pull off a daring robbery and are forced to trust each other - and a former witcher. Netflix notes that the film takes place before the events of the fourth season, but the project page indicates that it is recommended to watch the film after the new series.
The duration is 1 hour 22 minutes. The film received a TV-MA television rating - "for adults only" due to the abundance of violence and obscene language.
The director was Mairzee Almas ("The Sandman"), the script was written by Haley Hall and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The cast includes Ben Radcliffe (Giselher), Christelle Elwin (Mistle), Fabian McCallum (Kayleigh), Aggie K. Adams (Iskra), Juliette Alexandra (Reef) and Connor Crawford (Asse). In addition to them, the star of action films of the 90s, Dolph Lundgren, appeared in the film, playing Brehen - a witcher from the Cat School.
