Valve has unveiled the new Steam Machine, a hybrid PC and console that the company claims is six times more powerful than the Steam Deck. Among the first to react to the announcement was Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, who publicly supported the project on social network X.
"The gaming industry thrives when players and creators have more ways to play and create," Spencer wrote. The phrase reflects the philosophy of Xbox: games should be available not on one platform, but on different devices and services.
The executive reminded that Xbox is one of the largest publishers on Steam, and noted that he perceives the new Valve console as a positive phenomenon for the entire industry. Instead of competition, he sees it as a step towards a more open and convenient world for gamers.
The more opportunities, the better, Spencer believes, whether it's Xbox, PC, or the new Steam Machine.
Spencer emphasized that Xbox's mission is to expand choice, reduce restrictions, and simplify access to games.
Prices and release date for the Steam Machine have not yet been revealed, but one thing is clear — both Valve and Xbox are moving in the same direction: to make games accessible to everyone.
