Many players positively rate PSSR 2.0, noting that Sony has finally started to utilize the console's potential. The technology has increased image stability and detail clarity. The author of the comparison concluded that DLSS 4.5 (especially with model L) usually still looks better, but Sony has noticeably closed the gap. Just a few months ago, this confrontation looked much more one-sided.
There are exceptions. In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, PSSR 2.0 sometimes performs better than NVIDIA's solution. On the other hand, Silent Hill 2 Remake still exposes the weaknesses of Sony's upscaler: when scaling from Performance mode on PS5 Pro, artifacts are visible on puddles and in ambient occlusion areas.
In the end, PSSR 2.0 is a huge step forward compared to the launch of PS5 Pro, although DLSS 4.5 remains the gold standard. For console owners, this is great news: the gap has ceased to be critical, and in some projects, Sony demonstrates a high level.
