Specialists want to secure their jobs.

Information recently emerged about a new round of layoffs at one of Ubisoft's divisions. Employees of Ubisoft Barcelona, through the Coordination Committee of the Video Game Workers' Union, announced their intention to go on strike.

The reason for the strike was the management's decision to lay off 51 people. Employees plan to strike on Tuesdays and Thursdays between June 30 and July 16, which means six actions over three weeks.

Among the demands of Ubisoft Barcelona employees are:

  • Guarantee of job retention for all 51 specialists.
  • Commitment to protect employees from future collective layoffs for at least 5 years.
  • Implementation of previously agreed-upon raises that were "unilaterally suspended by the company."
  • Reinstatement of remote work "with 60% of monthly working hours from home to ensure work-life balance."
  • Review of the salary and social benefits plan for employees.

Layoffs in the gaming industry continue not only at Ubisoft. Recently, some specialists from Bungie were also affected by reductions.
