Saber boss said he would be happy to replace the scriptwriter with AI and caused a scandal - now he has apologized for his words

Not everyone shares the manager's position on the use of AI in development.

Saber Interactive recently announced that it would publish Rideshare "Stimulator". Scriptwriter Stella Sacco noticed the announcement and accused the company of replacing her with artificial intelligence.

Saber boss Matt Karch not only confirmed the use of AI technologies in the game (which is why opponents of "neural sludge" are now attacking other studio projects), but also made a harsh statement when responding to the accusations:

As for Stella: she was replaced by a more talented person and, a few months later, was fired for a number of reasons. Apparently, she loves scandals even more than I do. Honestly, right now I would be happy to replace her with AI. At least then we would be dealing with someone who is programmed to be honest.

The story continued — Stella said that "to her great surprise" she received a "long letter" from Matt Karch. The manager apologized for his words:

Matt said he regretted how the situation escalated and how I am being talked about online. I am not bothered by random commentators calling me names [...] but it was very unpleasant that my skills and reputation, earned over 20 years in the gaming industry, were publicly disparaged by a person with institutional power [...] I have firmly maintained from the beginning that what I am saying is true. And I think everyone can now agree that this has been confirmed. Matt expressed a desire to reconcile with me. I don't quite understand yet what that might look like, and I will need some time to think it over, but I at least accept his apology.

Recent reviews of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 are still in the "very positive" category — AI opponents could not bring down Saber Interactive's game rating. However, some continue to criticize the company on the forum and share concerns about the future of the game: there is an opinion that developers will start adding AI-generated content.
