"Nothing is impossible": Head of Disney Animation hints at a Kingdom Hearts movie
For now, fans will have to settle for a new game and an anime series.
Jared Bush, Creative Director of Walt Disney Animation Studios, answered IGN's question about a possible feature film based on Kingdom Hearts. The executive did not confirm that such a project is in development, but he did give fans hope:
"I'm always interested in what people are passionate about. We have many new projects ahead and different ways to release content into the world. I'll just say that nothing is impossible."
A feature film adaptation of Kingdom Hearts has not yet been officially announced. However, Disney is already preparing another project for the franchise — an anime series for Disney+ with an original story. Series creator Tetsuya Nomura and the Kingdom Hearts IV team are involved in its creation.
Kingdom Hearts IV itself was also shown at D23, and its release was confirmed for late 2027. The developers presented a world based on the animated film "Coco" and said that the new installment will implement one of the ideas that had to be abandoned during the creation of Kingdom Hearts III.
