The reboot of "The Running Man" is under the close supervision of Stephen King himself.
Glen Powell will play the lead role in "The Running Man," a new adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name. After the success of "Top Gun: Maverick," the actor has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after stars, but before he was cast, director Edgar Wright had to obtain the writer's personal approval.
Powell recalls that when Wright offered him the role of Ben Richards, he warned him that they would first have to wait for King's decision, who intended to watch several films with his participation.
"I had to wait all night while King watched 'Hit Man' and hope that the role would still be mine in the morning. It was terrible." Fortunately for him, the writer was pleased with what he saw and gave his consent.
The film "The Running Man" is based on King's 1982 novel, previously adapted in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role. The story tells of a deadly game show where contestants run from professional killers around the world for thirty days, and the survivor receives a huge fortune as a reward.
The new version of "The Running Man" will be released on November 14, 2025.
