A device called Valve Fremont has appeared in the Geekbench database.

Valve is getting closer to launching the Steam Machine. The device has once again appeared in the Geekbench database, but this time the testing was conducted under SteamOS, which may indicate an approaching release.

In the benchmark database, the system is listed under the codename Valve Fremont. According to the published data, the console is equipped with an AMD Custom CPU 1772 with six cores and twelve threads, operating at a frequency of up to 4.86 GHz. The chip also received 16 MB of L3 cache.

In the Geekbench 6.7.1 test, the device scored 2,334 points in single-threaded mode and 7,316 points in multi-threaded mode. This almost matches the results of the previous leak, which appeared last August, when the system was tested under Windows. At that time, the scores were 2,304 and 7,117 points, respectively.

In terms of performance, the Steam Machine processor resembles the AMD Ryzen Z1, which is used in portable gaming devices. At first glance, such results may seem modest for a home gaming system, but both solutions are built on the Zen 4 architecture and have a similar configuration. In addition, the Valve device's processor is limited to 30W of power consumption, which also brings it closer to mobile chips.

The graphics subsystem is of much greater interest. According to available information, Valve uses a custom graphics accelerator with 8 GB of video memory, which resembles a cut-down version of the Radeon RX 7600 or the mobile Radeon RX 7600M XT.
