Xbox players feel cheated by Call of Duty: Black Ops ports on PlayStation

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 were released on PlayStation last week. Despite being just ports without noticeable graphical or convenience improvements, Xbox players were left dissatisfied.

Formally, Xbox owners can already play Black Ops and Black Ops 2 thanks to backward compatibility. The versions are almost identical, and Activision and Microsoft even made personalization packs free in the Xbox store to match PlayStation. However, there is a problem – Xbox servers are filled with hackers.

User Deaks wrote:

As someone who has played Black Ops on both Xbox and PlayStation, I can confidently say that Xbox players are completely deprived of the return to the series that PlayStation users are currently enjoying.

According to him, on PS4 and PS5, matches are found almost instantly, and cheaters are not encountered. On Xbox, finding a game can take 15–20 minutes, after which players often end up in lobbies altered by hackers.

The problem concerns not only long match searches and spoiled games but also account security. One Reddit user stated:

My main problem is account security while playing. On Xbox, your account is NOT protected. On PlayStation, it will be protected. That's the problem.

Players have been complaining about the situation since backward compatibility launched nine years ago. Now, fans believe that the old Black Ops servers on Xbox have long needed an update, but Microsoft and Activision seem to perceive these versions as a full replacement for the new ports.
