Was a "Pirated" Scarface Accidentally Released on EGS? Developers Ask Not to Persecute Them and Comment on the Rights Situation

The unexpected re-release of Scarface has raised many questions.

Recently, a re-release of Scarface (2006) was launched on the Epic Games Store. A page also appeared on Steam, although the game has not yet been released on Valve's service.

There are questions about this release: fan mods are being used, and the developers have not contacted all the authors. Modder Silent even stated: "I KNOW the Scarface license holder was not ready to re-release the game, so this is suspicious."

Soon, a representative of the publishing company EC Digital stated on Steam that the game page "was intended as a placeholder while we work through the current licensing and technical issues" — negotiations are underway:

We have recently entered into urgent discussions with several parties regarding the status of the project. After careful consideration, we believe that temporarily hiding the store page would be the most appropriate step forward, and we have already begun coordinating with Valve to make this happen as soon as possible.

He also asked not to publish the personal data of the project participants:

We also urge everyone not to harass or disclose personal information of anyone involved. Some of our partners working on completely different projects have already been affected, and we deeply regret putting them in this situation.
