Rumor has it that Riot Games is working on League of Legends 2, and the release may take place in 2026. This was reported by insider Summoner Park, whose post was later deleted, but was saved by an X user with the nickname Igenico.
The message says that the sequel is being created on a new engine and will completely get rid of the outdated code. The developers plan to update the main content of the game, maintain the usual gameplay, conduct large-scale optimization and balancing of champions. At the same time, the unique abilities of the characters and their individuality will be preserved.
Sources clarify that League of Legends 2 will not radically change the formula of the original, but will focus on technical updates and performance improvements.
The main question is how Riot will transfer more than 170 champions to the sequel and what will happen to the accumulated cosmetic items, statistics and ratings. Similar transitions have already caused difficulties for other games like Overwatch and Counter-Strike, but given the age of the original, a major update to LoL seems like a logical step for the future of the series.
