Sony started testing a new PS Plus format and is already facing criticism

Sony is testing a new way to add games to PS Plus Extra and Premium catalogs in the US, UK, and Japan. Instead of a one-time replenishment, subscribers receive games in stages.

Previously, all games of the month became available on the second Tuesday after the announcement. Now, releases are spread out by dates. For example, in June, subscribers first received Sonic X Shadow Generations, then Final Fantasy XVI, and other projects were added later, until the end of the month.

In other countries, the system has not changed — the entire set appeared on June 16, as before. Because of this, users from countries participating in the experiment complain about confusion and the need to additionally check game release dates.

Sony did not explain the reasons for the changes, stating that the company is "exploring new ways to deliver games from the PlayStation Plus catalog in select markets."

Judging by community reaction, the experiment proved unpopular. One user wrote:

There was only one game that interested me even a little this month, and I still have to wait until next week.

Another noted:

I already really dislike this split release format. Blades of Fire is the only game of the month I wanted to play.

Some players call the new system "confusing," while others call it "absolutely awful."
