The Future of The Elder Scrolls Online Questioned After ZeniMax Layoffs - Media

According to Kotaku, a new wave of Xbox layoffs affected ZeniMax Online Studios and may have cost up to half of The Elder Scrolls Online developers their jobs, leading the team to revise the project's roadmap.

A new wave of Xbox layoffs has affected ZeniMax Online Studios, the developers of The Elder Scrolls Online. Although the studio itself remains, the team has once again faced cutbacks after previous layoffs related to the cancellation of Project Blackbird.

As reported by Kotaku, over 20 employees have already announced their layoffs on LinkedIn. Among them were specialists who had worked at ZeniMax for over ten years. The exact number of those laid off is unknown, but up to half of The Elder Scrolls Online developers may have lost their jobs.

The layoffs have already impacted the game's plans. ESO Community Manager Jessica Folsom stated that the team would revise the project's roadmap:

We want to take the time to evaluate the upcoming work and then confirm an updated schedule. While we would like to share specific details today, we need to first sort out the plans to get back to you with clear timelines.

Remaining employees and laid-off developers are concerned about the game's future with a reduced team.
