Motherboards based on the B650 have repeatedly held leading positions in sales, but the situation will change very soon.
AMD has officially stopped the production of the B650 chipset — a mass solution that has become the basis for dozens of popular motherboard models and has long held the lead in retail. New orders from manufacturers are no longer accepted, and the sale of warehouse stocks will be completed by October. The B650 will remain in retail for some time, but its departure from the market is inevitable.
According to Mindfactory and other major retailers, the B650 remained the most popular chipset of the AM5 platform — both in terms of the number of boards sold and in terms of total revenue. Its success was due to the support of Ryzen 7000 and 9000 processors "out of the box", modern interfaces and a significantly more affordable price compared to flagship solutions.
Now the B850 series is taking over. The new chipset offers extended PCIe 5.0 support and is initially designed for future generations of components. Motherboards based on it have already gone on sale at the beginning of the year and will gradually replace the previous line.
