AMD Released Radeon RX 9070 GRE to the Global Market Amid Memory Shortage
The new product is designed to fill the niche created after the price increase of the standard RX 9070.
AMD announced the global launch of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE. Initially, the Golden Rabbit Edition series was created for China and the Asia-Pacific region, but now the new product is available for international sale at a price of $549.
The video card received 48 RDNA 4 compute units, 48 ray tracing accelerators, 96 AI accelerators, 12 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 192-bit bus, and a power consumption of 220 W.
According to AMD, in more than 40 tested games with classic rendering and ray tracing, the new product is up to 22% faster than the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 16 GB of video memory. However, the main competitor to the new product appears to be not NVIDIA's solution, but the regular Radeon RX 9070.
The older model offers 56 compute units, 16 GB of memory, and a 256-bit bus. At launch, its recommended price was the same $549, and now the card sells for approximately $599. Given a difference of only $50, many buyers will likely prefer to pay extra for an additional 4 GB of memory, a wider bus, and higher performance, rather than choosing the RX 9070 GRE.
