"We want Marvel to succeed": Head of DC Studios is rooting for the success of "Avengers: Doctor Doom"
Peter Safran believes healthy competition between Marvel and DC is beneficial for the entire genre.
DC Studios co-head Peter Safran hopes that "Avengers: Doctor Doom" will be a box office success. In his opinion, healthy competition between Marvel and DC benefits both companies, and successful films maintain audience interest in the superhero genre as a whole.
"What unites comic book fans is far more important than what divides us. So we want Marvel to succeed. Plus, James [Gunn] started there, so we're rooting for them and hoping they have a great winter."

Safran's words are understandable, considering that DC Studios is set to release its own crossover, "Superman: Legacy," right between "Avengers: Doctor Doom" and "Avengers: Secret Wars." After the weak box office performance of "Supergirl," the film's importance for the new DC cinematic universe has only grown, and the success of competitors could rekindle audience interest in large-scale superhero team-ups.
"Avengers: Doctor Doom" is scheduled to premiere on December 18, 2026, and "Superman: Legacy" will be released on July 9, 2027.
