Project OVR faced serious difficulties and is in a "terrible state."

According to media reports, after an internal crisis on the project, known by the codename Project OVR, the company carried out so-called "quiet layoffs" in its Parisian division.

It is reported that after an internal memo was sent in mid-April, Vice President of Production Jean-Baptiste Duval and Vice President of Global Creative Julien Sansalon were brought into the project. They were supposed to strengthen control over development, but, according to sources, their involvement had almost no impact on the team's daily work, except for the layoffs.

Sources claim that the game's scope has been significantly reduced in recent months. Many features of varying importance were cut from the project to reduce the workload and bring development into a more manageable state.

In the spring, Project OVR also failed to successfully pass alpha testing, which led to serious changes in development plans. According to employees, the test failure was not a surprise, as the game is in a "terrible state" and suffers from extremely low stability.

Despite the problems, Ubisoft still expects to move Project OVR into beta testing as early as November. However, developers fear that to meet deadlines, the team will have to work in an intensive crunch mode. The situation is complicated by the recent staff reduction, which means the remaining employees will have to take on an additional workload.
